Customs broker (agente aduanal)
A customs broker is a licensed professional who prepares and files customs declarations. In Mexico most imports and exports must go through a licensed agente aduanal.
Cross-border shipments usually involve two brokers: the Mexican broker for the export side and a US broker for the import into the United States. A good broker checks tariff classification, valuation and origin claims before the truck arrives at the bridge. Ask a new supplier which broker and which crossing they normally use; it tells you a lot about their export experience.
