IMMEX program

IMMEX is a Mexican government program that lets manufacturers import materials, parts and machinery temporarily without paying import duties, as long as the finished goods are exported.

The name stands for Industria Manufacturera, Maquiladora y de Servicios de Exportación and the program is run by the Ministry of Economy. Temporary imports must be exported or returned within set time limits, and the company must keep inventory control that customs can audit. Many export-oriented suppliers in border states work under IMMEX, directly or through a shelter company.
