USMCA (T-MEC)

USMCA is the trade agreement between the United States, Mexico and Canada that replaced NAFTA on 1 July 2020. In Mexico it is called T-MEC.

Goods that meet the USMCA rules of origin can cross between the three countries with preferential, usually zero, tariffs. The importer claims the preference with a certification of origin, which the supplier must be able to support with bills of materials and cost records. Tariffs on goods that do not qualify, and measures outside the agreement, can change with US trade policy, so check the current situation for your part before you compare quotes.
