Carta Porte

Carta Porte is a mandatory complement to the Mexican electronic invoice (CFDI) that documents goods transported inside Mexico: what, from where, to where and by which vehicle.

Trucks moving goods on Mexican roads, including to the border, must carry the CFDI with the Carta Porte complement. Missing or inconsistent data can lead to fines and stopped shipments. It is the supplier's or carrier's responsibility, but buyers should know about it because it is a common cause of delays in the first shipments with a new supplier.
