Dual sourcing
Dual sourcing means buying the same part from two qualified suppliers so that a problem at one does not stop your production.
The second source can take a share of the volume or stay qualified as a backup. It costs some extra effort for qualification and sometimes a slightly higher price, but it reduces the risk of late deliveries, capacity limits and price pressure from a single supplier. Many US buyers who already source in Mexico add a second Mexican supplier in another region for exactly this reason.
